GOTHENBURG: Italy's pink hallmark creates success on the web

How do you make print readers feel more at home when your paper goes online? Gianni Valenti, Deputy Editor of Italys biggest daily sports magazine, Gazzetta dello Sport, answered this question at the 15th World Editors Forum.
The most important characteristic for the daily Italian sports magazine is its pink printed paper. When the magazine went online, one of the most important things was to keep this hallmark, to make the readers feel more at home on the web. The Gazzetta dello Sport has now integrated its newsroom and is avaliable on print and on the web including web TV.
The magazine writes about national as well a international sports. During the last years the printed paper also has increased the number of regional pages and the editors plan to expand those sections even more. The editors have the ambition to write about contemporary events outside the world of sports, such as politics, economy, health, literature, fashion, enviromental issues and fashion, but all with a sports angle, and always keeping its central characteristic; pink paper.
