As Managing Editor of The Times (1997-2004), George was the launch editor of the paper’s first compact edition in late 2003; he converted the Saturday edition to compact format in November 2004. He joined The Times in 1981 and has been a features writer and editor, Opinion Page editor, Foreign Editor (1987-1990), bureau chief in Brussels (1991-1995) and European Editor (1995-1997). He sits on the British committee of the International Press Institute.

Berna Gonzàlez-Harbour, Sub-director, El Pais, Spain Berna first joined El Pais in 1988 as copywriter for the paper’s Sunday magazine. She has held various positions at the paper, including copy writer for the digital edition, and special correspondent in cities such as Belfast, London, and Moscow. She also served as Moscow corrspondent between 1990 and 1993 for two other Spanish papers: El Sol, and El Periódico de Catalunya. Berna was foreign editor of El Pais between 2003 and 2005.
