UK: How interactive are business news sites?

Posted by Kelley Vendeland on April 8, 2008 at 9:02 AM
business interactivity.jpgBirmingham Post reporter Joanna Geary has been examining the level of interactivity on U.K. business news websites, and has illustrated her findings with an easy-to-interpret visual (see photo, click to enlarge).

Her assessment is based primarily on the sites' use of multimedia and interactive tools (maps, blogs, social bookmarking). Click on the photo to see all the categories.

Geary concluded that regional news is in general a bit behind nationals in terms of interactive features, although The Birmingham Post and LDP business are catching up.

She concedes however that her categories have their limitations. "Naming individual elements of interactivity does not necessarily give you a strong insight into the experience of the user."
