What is a Blog-o-thon?
Posted by Carolyn Lo on March 14, 2008 at 12:19 PM
For their first-ever 24-hour Blog-o-thon, the editorial department at alternative paper Creative Loafing will post several blog entries every hour for 24 hours.
Creative Loafing is the second most distributed paper in Atlanta, Georgia and is also published in Charlotte, North Carolina, Sarasota and Tampa Florida covering news, culture, contemporary music, and the arts. They recently obtained the weeklies Chicago Reader and Washington D.C. City Paper, doubling the size of their company.
Taking place in Charlotte, the Blog-o-thon begins Friday, March 14 at 6 am and ends Saturday, March 15 at 6am. The entries will be in the form of text, audio, video, and photos and will cover all types of subjects from news to film to music, etc.
The paper's readers surely will be kept updated with the writers' quirky postings, but is there another purpose to this event other than amusement? Will non Creative Loafing readers discover the blog and subscribe? And will this event possibly begin a "Blog-o-thon" trend?
