Orange and Omnitel launch innovative podcast services

Orange France and VF Italy have both announced their plans to launch mobile podcast services. The Java and Symbian supported services offer an innovative user experience compared to basic Wap-enabled services.
The Vodafone service allows users to browse a catalogue online and subscribe to a podcast of their choice. The user is notified when a new episode is available for viewing via stream or download. The Orange service involves a background download solution.
Each new episode is downloaded directly to the mobile during the night with the latest podcast available for immediate consumption off-line, so there is never a need to log on to the Internet.
