Washingtonpost.com to relaunch, more Web 3.0 and widgets
At the Association of Online Publishers conference, Caroline Little, chief executive and publisher of Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive, said that providing Web 3.0 tools and widgets (interview with the Post about widgets here) were among her priorities.
One of the widgets the Post is further developing is a political compass, that gives users an indication of where they are on the political spectrum. The widget received 300,000 downloads the first month.
"It was a good way to talk to that all important younger audience to say 'we are here, come read about politics with us'," said Little.
She also mentioned the use of Pluck, which allows discussion groups to be formed around a particular topic (interview with Pluck here).
Little also mentioned the possibility of developing versions of the website in other languages.
