US: OCR adds profiles, user blogs, social networking

Posted by Jean Yves Chainon on October 12, 2007 at 11:08 AM
The Orange County Register has upgraded its website to include user profiles, which enable readers to create their own blogs, publish their news and share photos.

It seems this move was prompted in part by commenting issues, in an effort to mitigate any abuses in user-generated conversations.

In a note from the editor
on the OCR website: “Many of you have expressed concerns about some of the harsh anonymous comments from readers. To remedy that, we are introducing new features. You can create your own blog, publish your news and share your photos with the community.”

In late August, the website had introduced user-generated videos.

I think that sucess always comes from meeting all the needs, and hence it is a briliant idea to serve both ends on equal terms, in the process your reputable newspaper will gain more love and respect Mr. Attia. Still, I have a suggestion concening the cited idea; I am one of the fans of Barid El Gom3a and I would not miss it for the world; so why don't you translate this page as the case with many other articles published in the arabic version of Al Ahram newspaper. Hopefully, I worte those lines and do appreciate to receive an ansewr from your good selves and thanks in advance.
