Sweden: Aftonbladet articles link back to blog
Posted by Jean Yves Chainon on October 26, 2007 at 12:32 PM
Swedish daily Aftonbladet’s website has started to automatically link to blog postings that link to its articles.
Aftonbladet’s blog listings feature the headline of the blog post (with a link to the post), the name of the blog, as well as an option that displays the author’s profile and picture when the cursor is over the headline.
Definitely sounds like an innovative tool that will help newspapers serve not only as news outlets, but as information relay points.
Thanks to link widgets developed by Primelabs since February, several other Swedish dailies have already implemented the blog-link technology into their websites.
According to the Citizen Media Watch blog, feedback has been positive so far although some have voiced concerns that the blogosphere will be less interesting as it increasingly ties into mainstream media.

Here's hoping that
1. U.S. papers emulate this newspaper/blogger content-centered connection
2. Aftonbladet takes the next step to connect to bloggers anywhere who write on topics covered in this Swedish paper
As a former Wall Street Journal reporter I am enjoying this fast-changing landscape of news coverage and conversation. And, it seems that technology will facilitate the cream rising to the top (what is most popular and/or best written)
