Dow Jones’ MarketWatch.com has launched a new social networking feature, MarketWatch Community. With a simple design and basic functions, will it prove more successful than with newspapers?

Users can create profiles and share information, as well as comment on stories. They can also tag them, adding to the community tag cloud, which depicts in effect the most popular stories. In addition, a star system ranks stories according to the users’ choice.

MarketWatch Community also ads a popular entertainment feature: fantasy stock picks, which give you points as you do well on the market. Users can also give their predictions about a particular value.

On the homepage, users can see a selection of the hottest stock picks, as well as the list of users who scored best.
