New E&P segment, ‘Pauline’s Picks,’ to help editors keep an eye on peers

Posted by Ben Thalman on June 18, 2007 at 3:52 PM

Editor & Publisher has recently launched an informative segment called ‘Pauline’s Picks,’ that will help publishers keep up-to-date on some of the developments being launched on their peers’ news sites.

For example, in the first article written for the new segment, Pauline Millard discusses the Miami Herald’sWhat the 5!,’ a video feature on their site which highlights five lifestyle and entertainment stories.

In the second article of ‘Pauline’s Picks,’ the New York Times’ podcasts were discussed. Some of the features highlighted were the ability of users to download the podcasts, the ease with which the podcasts can be found on the site, and the presence of ads on the podcasts, thereby creating a revenue stream.

These segments provide links so that readers can see and use the technologies described by Pauline.

These segments will come in handy for editors wishing to remain competitive in the digital age. Editors may use these articles as a starting point to launch similar technologies on their own sites, or, at the very least, editors will know what their peers are doing.
