US: 250 papers to partner Monster for job classifieds
Monster had already reached a separate agreement with The New York Times Co. a month ago.
Now job seekers and employees will be able to list themselves on the Monster site through the newspapers’ websites. Reversely, Monster users can buy print newspaper advertising – for those news outlets using Adicio software.
Adicio is 40% owned by Dow Jones & Co, publisher of the Wall Street Journal.
Companies will share revenue, but no details were provided.
Gannett, McClatchy and Tribune have already developed their own jobs classified-aggregator, CareerBuilder.com.
Observers may note the tragic irony: after blaming free (or quasi-free) websites like Craigslist and Monster for stealing their classified ad revenue, newspapers are now forced to hop on the bandwagon in partnership with these specialized websites.
