Al-Jazeera International launches today

The Arab news network Al-Jazeera launches today its English version, Al-Jazeera International. Its bureaus will broadcast from around the world, in London, Doha, Kuala Lumpur, and will be available to 70 million households.
The Bush administration had often branded the news network as a resource for terrorists – particularly al-Qaeda.
AJI management insists that the network will uphold an international point of view and cultural diversity.
"No holds barred, political ideology, party affiliation. When people actually see the product, I think a lot of that (criticism) is going to go away," said Dave Marash, a former ABC correspondent who’ll co-anchor one of the daily newscasts.
Most American cable firms have refused to broadcast AJI though, and in the meantime it will be available at English.aljazeera.net .
