First year successful for first black editor at Die Burger: A sign of positive change in South Africa

Henry Jeffreys, the first black publisher at Die Bruger, a paper historically at the heart of Afrikaner nationalism, has passed through his first year. Walking a thin line between Die Burger’s two groups of readers- half are white Afrikaners and half are black Afrikaans speakers - is part of Jeffreys’ job; one which he has been successful at over the last year.

Cape Town conference: A special declaration by and for African Editors

Due to the large number of African editors participating in the 14th World Editors Forum Conference and the 60th World Newspaper Congress, the opportunity was seized to make a plea for greater press freedom in Africa. The result was the Declaration of Table Mountain.
