On July 17, the 16-member board of Directors for Dow Jones agreed to sell the company, including the Wall Street Journal, to Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation for $5 billion.

Bancrofts to sell their share of Dow Jones & Co.?

News Corp. might soon control Dow Jones & Co., after more than a century of its independence.The Bancrofts, who own the voting-majority stake of the company, have indicated that they would consider selling their share to Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. The Bancroft family also said that it would look at offers from other bidders.

NEWS CORP./DOW JONES The Bancrofts have been dismissing Rupert Murdoch’s offers to buy the Dow Jones & Co., seemingly uninterested in selling to Murdoch.  However, today members of the Bancroft family have planned a meeting to discuss Murdoch's proposal, hinting that there may be some interest.
