US: journalist sacked for plaigarising Wikipedia
Tim Ryan, investigative journalist at Hawaiian newspaper The Honolulu Star Bulletin, was recently fired after he was discovered to have plaigarised passages from Wikipedia. Ryan was accused of plaigarising material in six different stories, written since April 2001.
The paper's editor has confirmed that none of Ryan's stories contained inaccurate information, but that they contained sentences that had been copied directly from Wikipedia (see previous posting). Corrections have been added to most of the stories.
