UK: Trinity Mirror considers job cuts

Publisher Trinity Mirror is considering cutting 550 to 770 jobs, which is 5% to 7% of the company's 11,000 employees, reports Brand Republic. The reason is the paper's search for savings after "experiencing tougher trading conditions and a slowdown in advertising." Jobs in editorial and advertising departments at its national and regional newspaper titles are at stake.
Trinity Mirror publishes five national newspapers, such as the Daily Mirror and the Daily Record, as well as a number of regional titles. A spokesman of the company said in Brand Republic, "All media owners are currently experiencing tough trading conditions due to the slowdown in advertising markets ... We are reviewing a number of possible actions to support our businesses, which may include redundancies, in what is a challenging period for the entire media industry."
