London: free papers increased by 1,5 tons the amount of paper waste in the London Underground.

Tube Lines Limited, the private company responsible for the maintenance on three London Underground lines, claims that after the launch of London Lite and Thelondonpaper litter in trains and stations increased by 48%. “The newspaper company itself really ought to make sure there are people picking up those newspapers”, said Jenny Jones, Green Party member of the London Assembly.

Let's hope they make a better fist of it than the Daily Telegraph has with its Weekly Telegraph. Apart frome being a miscllany of stuff including articles taken from Le Monde (no objection there), there's so much obscure crap in it, it's not worth the cover price - unless you're really desparate for an English language read.
