Solomon out at Washington Times

It was revealed yesterday that the executive shake-up at the Washington Times that occurred this past Monday also ousted executive editor John Solomon, who has been missing in action since the announced layoffs, reports Editor & Publisher. Solomon's fate had been unclear until yesterday's release of a single sentence from the public relations office at the Times: "Effective November 6, 2009, John Solomon has resigned his position as the Executive Editor of The Washington Times."
Solomon began at the Times in January 2007 under a three-year contract.
Following the announcement, which was released to the press before the employees were informed of the change, a staff meeting was held where it was announced that David Jones, managing editor for print, and Jeffrey Birnbaum, managing editor for digital, would be running the paper for the time being, according to Politico.
In addition, well-known columnist Lanny Davis has quit as well. Davis was one of the few liberals on staff at the Times, which is owned by Rev. Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church.
