Two new managing editors for the Washington Post

The Washington Post named two new managing editors today, Elizabeth Spayd and Raju Narisetti.  Spayd is the first female to claim a role of managing editor at the Post and has previously been a top editor at both their print and online newsrooms. Narisetti is currently a member of the World Editors Forum board and is former deputy managing editor of the Wall Street Journal.

Executive Editor Marcus Brauchli describes Narisetti as 'quite a visionary in journalistic terms', and coupled with Spayd's former roles at both the print and online newsrooms, these appointments point towards the current industry integrated newsrooms movement.  The Post has also recently begun to use more multimedia on its online platform to support its printed counterpart.  With regard to merging the two newsooms and the progress they have made so far, Spayd said "I very much believe we have a terrific Web site, and the bumpy road has gotten a lot smoother in the last couple of years."
