Posted by Alisa Zykova on November 7, 2008 at 10:18 AM
The heads of the paper's regional divisions were called
into meeting in Moscow last Friday where they were informed about the move, but did
not receive further detail.
Rossiyskaya Gazeta's General Director, Alexander Gorbenko, says that the newspaper may be re-evaluating its structure following the recent economic policy changes for state organizations.
The correspondent offices slated to be shut down include Chelyabinsk, Arkhangelsk, Volgograd, Stavropol and Yaroslavl.
In addition, regional editions in Perm and Krasnodar will no longer be published from next year.
