UK: Newsquest outsources pre-press jobs to India
The pre-press design and verification of ads will now be outsourced to Express KCS, a US-based firm also present in India.
Newsquest is owned by the US firm Gannett, which has already contracted Express KCS for some of its US titles (publisher McClatchy also has).
Although these jobs don't affect the newsroom, the trend towards outsourcing continues - this year's Newsroom Barometer showed that 64% of editors expect some editorial jobs to be outsourced in the future.

Out-sourcing certainly seems like a cost-effective way to carry-out business, but for UK-based journalism, a good representation of local issues means UK-based employees are in a better position to write in a way that will appeal to the British public, as well as understanding some of the intricacies of UK life.
However, for those looking for UK jobs, using online search tools such as Careers & Jobs will enable them to find media-related jobs.
