France: AFP labor union protests aganist government interference
Posted by Kelley Vendeland on May 21, 2008 at 2:03 PM
A labor union of the Agence France Presse organized a protest May 21 outside the AFP's Paris office, calling for participation from "all members of other media organizations and all other citizens who support freedom on the press."
The protest comes in reponse to government attacks on AFP's neutrality in early May, which then provoked accusations of governmental pressure intended to shape AFP's coverage (see a full description of the controversy).
