LA Times invests in social website Mixx
According to their partnership, they will include each other’s content on their respective websites.
The news site counts on a strong built personality to be easily differentiated from its competitors such as Igoogle or MyYahoo. Its originality is based on a users’ concerns policy. The site, which uses numerous technological innovations, wants to be set as the first one to give control to the individual user by showing them “stories based on where they live and what their self-defined interests are.”
The Digg-like site, whose founder and CEO, Chris McGill, was formerly at USA Today and Yahoo, can also rely on his established media veterans’ team, composed of journalism celebrities, such as former AP chairman Burl Osborne, to raise the top of the news sites’ chart.
