Do journalists have the right to reveal corporate trade secrets?
preserve or reveal its corporate secrets, as long as there is no breaking news dealing about corporate malfeasance, illegal activities or hidden information.
On the other hand, bloggers, whose status seems to be getting closer and closer to journalists, maybe should have a right to access information under the Freedom of Information acts and be protected by press freedom principles when their work can be considered journalistic and of public interest.
In the end though, the real question is whether the public in general has the right, to know about Apple's projects or corporate developments before the company announces them publicly.
The closing down of Think Secret could indicate that corporation have the upper hand in the world of Internet and blogs. At the same time though, these blogs and the critical mass of information-seeking
bloggers are also a way to break down these barriers.
But it seems like for the time being, the intricate relationship between traditional print journalists and their sources, both trustful and prudent, will carry on on the Web.
