UK: Organization for editorial designers launches

Posted by Erica Mutschler on October 17, 2007 at 5:19 PM
For those interested in editorial design, a new organization has been launched: The Editorial Design Organization (EDO). EDO’s goal is to promote visual journalism in UK magazines, newspapers and websites.

UK’s leading editorial designers recently formed EDO. Heading this non-profit organization is Haymarket design director Paul Harpin. EDO aims to encourage and support established designers as well as students who want to enter the industry. Deputy chair John Brown and executive creative director Jeremy Leslie believe this organization comes at a crucial time when editorial design is playing an increasingly important role in publishing.

Before the end of this year EDO hopes to build a programme of lectures and talks on issues affecting the editorial design community. EDO also plans to launch a website and create a joint educational programme. To access the websites and programs EDO members will be asked to pay a small subscription.
