France: more editorial interference about Sarkozy story?
The story revolved around an alleged handwritten love letter that Sarkozy was holding as he exited a meeting.
“So Choc was ready to publish its two page spread and voilà (again) the story got killed,” reported Follow the Media.
This isn’t the first time that this kind of incident has happened though. When the Journal du Dimanche, also owned by Lagardère, had an exclusive about Sarkozy’s wife not voting in the second round of the presidential elections, the paper didn’t run the article.
Recently, it was revealed that Lagardère-owned Paris Match doctored a photo of Nicolas Sarkozy to reduce the visibility of his love-handles.
Choc’s editor denied there was any editorial interference in the choice. He said the story was pulled down because he didn’t get any comments from people close to Cécila Sarkozy (Sarkozy's wife) and because he thought this was a private matter.
Interesting argument, coming from a gossip magazine’s editor.
