Don’t make fun of prophets?

Last Friday, the Malaysian government suspended the Makkal Ossai for a month, after it published an image representing Jesus holding a cigarette and a can of beer.

The paper said it had published the image by mistake and ran an apology on the front page on Thursday. The picture had been used in a section about the sayings of the world’s sages and leaders.

A group defending religious minorities urged the government to take action against the Ossai, claiming the image had offended the country’s religious community.

Sounds familiar?

The Malaysian government had shut down two publications last year following their publication of cartoons of Prophet Mohammed.

For this reason, Attali claimed that mobile technology, since it always with users, will become ever more important for news distribution.
