A new Muhammad cartoon controversy?
"She was told it was an insult against the prophet. We consider the matter closed," said Swedish foreign ministry spokeswoman, Sofia Karlberg.
The Nerikes Allehanda, a local paper with a circulation of 65,000 copies, published the picture to protest against the fact that local galleries had declined to exhibit the artist’s series of drawings about Muhammad.
"Alongside the picture, we published a comment piece saying that it was serious that there is self-censorship among exhibition [galleries]," said the Nerikes Allehanda editor-in-chief, Ulf Johansson.
The case echoes back to the row that began in Denmark in September 2005, which had led to violent protests. Let’s hope this incident ends here.

There were violent protests alright, but that wasn’t the end of it. What really humbled Denmark to apologize and cede to giving respect to Islam (although very reluctantly and in ambiguous terms) was the crippling economic embargo by the Muslim nations.
Denmark’s Danske Bank estimated Danish good worth 10 billion kroner ($1.6 billion) annually were threatened in 20 Muslim countries by the boycott.
Arla Foods, one of Europe’s largest dairy companies, was the worst hit, losing an estimated US$1.6 million each day of the boycott.
Muslims may represent the most dissonant community in the world but on this occasion they were a force to reckon with, and there’s no reason to believe they can make even Sweden regret its arrogant stance.
If Muslims repeat that strategy, self-censorship of galleries would be the least of worries for Mr. Nerikes for which he’s feigning so much concern right now.
Were you concern to publish that "infamous" picture?
Are we loosing sight of our liberties on behalf being politically correct?
Let us be naive and keep being insulted about our way of living...
