The Times and Sunday Times website was visited by 9.64 million unique users in June, past the Sun Online website, which attracted just over 9 million unique visitors.

The Time’s numbers are still below its January figures (10 million visitors), prior to its £10 million relaunch.

Guardian Unlimited, which is still the most popular newspaper website in the UK, suffered a 9.6% drop in readership, down to 14.5 million unique visitors.

Following these announcements, Guardian Unlimited has just relaunched its environment, science and technology websites. Among the new features, a layout with wider grids, more emphasis on multimedia and two new environment blogs.

In partnership with British Gas, the blogs will “provide much greater opportunities for our users to engage with us and create real communities around the subjects that matter to them,” said Emily Bell, the Guardian News & Media director of digital content.

Apart from raising community awareness of environmental issues, one of the goals is to produce a guide drawing on the key topics that will be discussed in the next 10 months.
