Posted by Ben Thalman on June 8, 2007 at 11:40 AM

Chengdu Evening News, a Chinese tabloid, fired three of its editors after an ad saluting mothers of protestors killed in the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown appeared in the paper.

The small ad read: “Paying tribute to the strong(-willed) mothers of June 4 victims," and was printed Monday, on the 18th anniversary of the event.
