Slate launches online video magazine, “Slate V”
News, politics, culture, entertainment, humor, and animation will be just some of the topics covered by Slate V. The website will feature video versions of some of its most popular features in addition to an archived library with past videos featured on Slate.
Citizen journalism and user-generated content will also play a big role in Slate V; the best submitted content will be professionalized and bought by the magazine for exclusive rights to show it on the site. This strategy will allow the magazine to draw from a wide base of talent while still maintaining its editorial integrity.
Multiple Emmy winner Bill Smee, of Discovery networks fame, will be the Executive Producer of Slate V. “Andy and I hope to create original video features that reflect the core sensibilities of Slate and take Web video up a notch,” said Smee of his and Bowers’ plans for the video magazine.
More information on Slate V can be found on the Slate website.
