US: New online Metro offering for NY Times star writer
Posted by Jean Yves Chainon on March 16, 2007 at 2:16 PM
The New York Times Metro section is launching ‘City Room’, an ambitious online project to cover New York City’s five boroughs with breaking news, human interest stories, local history and anecdotes, as well as Q&A with the Times’ staff. Workaholic Times writer Sewell Chan (422 bylines in a twelve-month period) will head the desk.
City Room is “the most audacious online venture the Metro desk has so far conceived,” wrote Metro editor Joe Sexton in a memo to Times staff.
It's "a way that the readers of The New York Times can get as much Sewell Chan as he has to give," Sexton adds…
The new offering will also be complemented by work by other Times reporters, editors and multimedia and video producers.
