UK: ABC’s cross-platform media report

The Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) just launched the Group Product Report, a tool that enables media to verify and publicize their circulation and traffic figures across multi-platforms, in the interest of advertisers.

ABC measures the circulation figures of print newspapers and magazines, but also performance data for digital media.

With the Group Product Report, advertisers and media can look in a single source at figures from print and online platforms.

"A single resource for a media group to report all relevant figures will aid selling, and help media owners to prove their audiences across various platforms and channels.  Buyers and advertisers will benefit from having all the available data in just one single report," said Chris Boyd, chief executive at ABC.

The Newspaper Society, concerned with the same evolving face and needs of newspapers, is jointly working on a readership measurement system that would count online and print readers.

It has commissioned Telmar to develop a methodology for integrating internet audience data with print readership data. The data from the reports will then be included in the readership databases of regional press industry body JICREG, which partners the project with ABC.

Les Middleton, associate director at MediaCom Accent and a director of JICREG, said: "With clients becoming more media savvy, it is essential we, the agencies, have sound arguments to back up our decisions for local media usage."
