According to a report by Nielsen / NetRatings for the Newspaper Association of America (NAA), the average unique audience for newspaper websites increased 22% in 2006, adding 10 million new online newspaper readers.
The unique audience for newspaper websites was up to 56.4 million in 2006, from 46.1 million in 2005.
While the increase in newspaper web traffic is not surprising, this is nonetheless good news for newspapers that are trying to compensate print losses by increasing their online readership.
Members of the NAA account for 87% of US’ daily newspaper circulation.
