Venezuela: newspapers to be State-controlled?

The Governor of the southern Bolivar State said he intended to propose that Venezuelan media – newspapers and radio – be more tightly State-controlled.
Francisco Rangel Gomez is the Governor of the southern Bolivar state, which has the nation’s densest network of media per capita, with 10 newspapers, five TV channels and a number of radio stations.
"A comprehensive revision of these media -beyond TV channels- is necessary too because some radio stations and newspapers need to be reviewed too."
Alongside the rise of vivid political discourse, a tightened governmental grip over the media could seriously jeopardize press freedoms and the right to information in Venezuela.
