Top editor leaves Telegraph

Posted by Jean Yves Chainon on January 2, 2007 at 11:25 AM
The editor-in-chief of the Telegraph papers, John Bryant, quit his job after a year of unprecedented unrest at the paper.
Bryant had also been the acting editor of the Daily Telegraph, until Will Lewis was appointed in October.

The Telegraph went through 54 editorial redundancies and a wave of resignations during Bryant’s stay.

Both the company and Bryant parted on pleasant terms though, officially at least. "Under his leadership, the Daily Telegraph grew in strength and stature as the market-leading quality newspaper,” said Murdoch MacLennan, the chief executive of the Telegraph Media Group.

"I look forward to keeping up many acquaintances, and watching both the newspapers and the website go from strength to strength," said Bryant.
