US: Speculation surrounds potential Baquet move

Former Los Angeles Times editor Dean Baquet may be heading across the country to take a post at the New York Times. Though no source has confirmed that Baquet is planning work or has been offered a job at the NY Times, media watchers are speculating that it’s a definite possibility.
The former editor who received pressure to leave the LA Times after standing up against newsroom cuts is thought to want to run the NY Time’s prestigious Washington bureau.
Nothing is for sure as of now, Baquet has also told associates that he would like to return to the LA Times if the Tribune Co sells it to local owners. The former editor is still close with many LA Times employees, “the Los Angeles Times would welcome him back at the newspaper if that opportunity presented itself." Said one LA Times editor.
