New editor in chief for Reuters

David Schlesinger was appointed to be Reuters’ new editor in chief, replacing Geert Linnebank, and will assume his position starting Jan. 2007.
"He (Schlesinger) has steered editorial operations through strategic and structural change, while demonstrating concern and compassion for journalists facing the day-to-day problems of working under difficult and sometimes dangerous conditions," said Reuters Chief Executive Tom Glocer in a statement.
Linnebank will become a senior adviser to Glocer.
