Modern lifestyles have lead to more media absorption by the public. Based on a report by the US Census, Americans will spend the equivalent to five months, including one week reading newspapers and one week online, absorbing different forms of media, including.
But looking at the numbers more closely there isn’t enough time in the day to work eight hours, sleep eight hours, and read newspapers, listen to radio, surf the Internet, and watch TV for ten hours total. So when is this media consumption happening? It’s going on at work, in the car, or anywhere else.
“If you drive to work, you drive listening to the radio. You might be sitting at home, listening to music, watching television, flipping through a magazine, and you might even surf the Internet with music or TV on in the background,” said New York private equity firm Veronis Suhler Stevenson executive vice president James Rutherford.
Though American’s are know for their multi-tasking ways, French women in particular have led the multi-tasking revolution.
89% ofFrench women, from the ages 25-49, rely on cell phones compared to only 72% of the rest of the population. French women are also more efficient by filling out more applications and pay more taxes online through e-government sites. These on-the-go women don’t have time to sit down and watch TV or read a magazine but like Americans constantly absorbing media is second nature.
