Topix hopes to put the money towards local expansion including online local discussion forums. This site stands out among others because of its local coverage. The three publishers linked with Topix are currently fighting a time of circulation decreases and fewer readers as sites like Topix are becoming more popular by making news and media easily available.
The decision to invest in Topix comes after statements that local news is more in demand. And also, following predictions that in the coming decades Internet news revenue will surpass that of print.
