Germany: Spiegel spies

Suddeutsche Zeitung reported last week that at least one domestic and one foreign staff member of the highly respected weekly news magazine Der Spiegel were supplying information to Germany's Federal Intelligence Service (BND), a report confirmed by the magazine. A former head of the BND also announced that the agency had used journalists as informers from time to time. The BND admitted to making "mistakes" more or less confirming its involvement.
