First blog content syndicated by major newspapers

Although recently put into effect, several major newspapers, including The San Francisco Chronicle, The Houston Chronicle, The San Antonio Express-News and the Austin American-Statesman, have already begun syndicating and displaying high-quality blog content on their web sites.

Using content from the syndication network BlogBurst, the industry's first blog syndication service with a blog-powered newswire service, these newspaper web sites now allow their readers direct access to over 1,000 available blog sources.

"Our readers enjoy the new perspectives that blogs can bring to local information and hot topics such as travel, health & fitness, technology & gadgets, and food & entertainment," said Peter Negulescu, vice president of Digital Media at SFGate.com, The San Francisco Chronicle's online media property. "Working with Pluck's BlogBurst, we're able to easily tap into a wide variety of talent and fresh content from across the web, delivering an unprecedented breadth of content to our readers."

More than 15 million unique visitors per month turn to live BlogBurst sites SFGate.com, Statesman.com, Chron.com and MySanAntonio.com for the latest news, entertainment and commercial information.

"BlogBurst gives me the chance to be read by people who typically don't read blogs," said Kate Hopkins, author of the popular food and travel blog Accidental Hedonist.

Blogs, increasing in popularity, add an extra component to these newspapers websites, giving the reader an extensive variety of topics discussed. Bloggers, in turn, receive more exposure and reader traffic because of these links. Already seeing high numbers of visitors to their sites, these major newspapers are taking a step in the right direction in integrating more communication mediums.
