US: Los Angeles Times to close printing plant
The Los Angeles Times has announced that it will close one of its printing plants in early 2006, eliminating 110 jobs. The plant closure is part of a plan to consolidate the papers' printing and cut costs.
As many of the job cuts as possible will be accomplished through voluntary buy outs and staff members at the plant not connected with printing will be relocated.
The printing plant lay offs are the last in a series of job cuts initiated by the paper; 85 newsroom jobs were eliminted last month. (see previous posting)

If other newspapers are experiencing anything like those numbers for their market, they certainly aren't losing "circulation." They're just not putting as much pulp in palms.
