New woman editor in South Africa
She is young (36) and already editor. It happens in South Africa: Ferial Haffajee, 36, has been appointed the first woman editor of the Mail & Guardian weekly newspaper, according to the editor of the Mail and Guardian Online.
Ferial Haffajee, 36, has been appointed the first woman editor of the Mail & Guardian weekly newspaper, according to the editor of the Mail and Guardian Online.
Haffajee, who was the newspaper's associate editor, is a former managing editor of the Financial Mail.
"The key areas will remain strong investigative journalism, and to be a political trends leader. We will continue to be a leader in our coverage of the rest of Africa and to reclaim our place as the home of cutting-edge features and photojournalism," she was quoted as saying.
Haffajee also previously worked as a radio producer and television reporter at the South African Broadcasting Corporation.
