Update: Details of voluntary redundancies delayed at Le Parisien

After two rounds of strike action to protest planned job cuts, and another staff meeting that narrowly decided against further strikes, staff at Le Parisien and Aujourd'hui en France have still not been informed of exactly what these plans look like.

The management of these two newspapers has just decided to delay any announcement of the details for its plan to impose voluntary redundancies until 2010, Le Figaro reports.

Staff have continued to express their opposition to any job cuts, whether voluntary or involuntary. They have also called on management of the two papers to open discussions about their economic plans.

Three unions have denounced a lack of visibility in the management's plans. Union representatives wrote to Director General Jean Hornain to explain that the programs were creating "anguish and dissatisfaction" because they had not yet been revealed.

The management has previously announced plans for 35 voluntary redundancies. Two other programs that cover local editions of the papers will be announced in early 2010, after consultation with the unions. They would be announced no later than March 1, Mr Hornain said.

The previous strikes by journalists at Le Parisien/Aujourd'hui en France have prevented the papers from being published on two occasions.
