New York Times revamps syndication website

The New York Times has relaunched its syndication sales website, www.nytsyn.com. The main conceptual change is that the site now features an online syndication market place that allows clients to purchase individual products whenever they want them, without having to make a request and then wait for a response.

According to syndication services president Cristian Edwards, "our new e-commerce site allows us to better serve our clients by offering a more immediate and convenient solution to their content needs." Editors do not need to worry that another publication in their country will be able to get the same content, as each piece will be automatically taken off that market immediately when purchased online.

The site is now pushing more multimedia elements such as interactive graphics, podcasts and videos. It also provides an online catalog of services available at syndication sales, sample columns and a preview of the latest stories that NYT journalists are covering each day. Current clients can also access news articles at the same time they move on the wire and retrieve subscriptions through the delivery section of the site.
