New newspaper launched in Nigeria
The first print edition of a new Nigerian newspaper, NEXT, was published on 4 January, following the launch of its online edition in December. The paper is owned by Timbuktu Media Group, and its publisher Dele Olojede described its aim as "to provide news and informed opinion fairly and accurately to the Nigerian public in any land."
It was reported that the printed papers were to be "distributed in multiple cities simultaneously in Nigeria, the UK, and in the United States." Olojede was enthusiastic about its online reach also, saying that the paper would be delivered "via the Web, on your mobile devices, to your desktop, on YouTube and Facebook - anywhere we can find you."
According to Garcia Media, "the daily edition will be in a compact format, but Sunday is big: a broadsheet, with several sections that include Arts & Culture, Sports, Metro, Book Review and Elan magazine."
