The Anchorage Times, an Alaskan based newspaper, has finally closed down.

During its struggle to survive, the local newspaper went from a full-blown newspaper, to a half-page in the Anchorage Daily News and then just a web site. The Web site finally closed on October 31, due to lack of advertising revenue and sponsors.

Many felt uncomfortable with the newspapers association with Bill Allen, the former owner of the oil service company VECO who bought the newspaper in 1989. According to newsminer.com, Allen "sits at the center of the scandals tearing up Alaska politics."
