According to reports, on Thursday "mobs" of people were still gathering at newsstands to purchase copies of Wednesday's newspapers.
Some papers are even printing more copies of Wednesday's edition. The Los Angeles Times printed an additional 100,000 copies of Wednesday's paper on Thursday, according to the paper's president, Jack D. Klunder.
Other papers such as The Washington Post and The Chicago Tribune are also printing additional copies.
Big news always sells more papers - according to Media Bistro, after
the first day of the Persian Gulf War in 1991, The Times sold an
additional 216,000 papers, after the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion
an additional 118,000 papers were sold.
According to some sources, copies are already being sold on e-bay and Craigslist for up to $200. One retiree bought 10,000 copies of the The Bellingham Herald's election wrap-up edition, it cost him $5,000 and he is hoping one day to net a profit, according to Editor & Publisher.
