Egypt: First free daily launched

24hourscairo-228x300.png 24 Hours, a free newspaper in Cairo, was launched "some months ago, probably in March or April" of 2008, according to Newspaper Innovation.

The estimated circulation of Egypt's first free daily ranges from 15,000 to 50,000.  There are no official circul ation figures for newspapers in Egypt.

The daily's distribution has some direct delivery, although it mainly distributes through hawkers in various parts of Cairo handing copies out on the streets.
